This course introduces participants to the essential principles of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), focusing on maintaining consistency and quality across all product batches. Participants will engage in practical sessions that focus on optimizing mixing parameters to meet precise product specifications and will gain hands-on experience with fluid bed granulators and roller compactors to understand the fundamentals of granulation.
Course Outcomes: By the end of this course, you will be able to determine when a powder needs granulation or agglomeration for efficient use in solid dose formulations. You will also develop a comprehensive understanding of the various tools used to address powder issues, along with the benefits of each, enabling you to enhance product quality and process efficiency.
Enrollment Requirements: Completion of SDU’s 401 powder formulation class.
Course Certificate upon Completion
On the last day of class, you will receive a personalized, embossed certification that declares you have completed one of SDU’s formulation courses. This credential not only validates your expertise and dedication to continuous learning but also positions you as a valuable asset in solid dose manufacturing.

Michael is a seasoned expert in the OSD pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging sector, having begun his career as a machinist focused on tablet press tooling, tablet press repair, and refurbishment. His deep understanding of solid-dose manufacturing has evolved over the years, leading him to found Solid Dose Technology LLC, where he serves as the technical director and CEO. Michael has a proven track record in training global teams, supporting startups, and providing critical services like troubleshooting, risk assessments, and formulation optimization. His leadership has greatly influenced the industry, empowering teams to effectively manage complex manufacturing systems. In addition to his practical experience, Michael has authored numerous articles and white papers in industry publications and recently contributed as a steering committee member for the 8th edition of the Tableting Specification Manual (TSM).
