Formulation 402: Advanced Level

This course introduces participants to the essential principles of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), focusing on maintaining consistency and quality across all product batches. Participants will engage in practical sessions that focus on optimizing mixing parameters to meet precise product specifications and will gain hands-on experience with fluid bed granulators and roller compactors to understand the fundamentals of granulation.

Course Outcomes: By the end of this course, you will be able to determine when a powder needs granulation or agglomeration for efficient use in solid dose formulations. You will also develop a comprehensive understanding of the various tools used to address powder issues, along with the benefits of each, enabling you to enhance product quality and process efficiency.

Enrollment Requirements: Completion of SDU’s 401 powder formulation class.

With a B.S. in Chemistry and over 30 years of experience, Brian Wagner is an expert in the formulation, processing, scale-up, and troubleshooting of finished products in the Nutritional Supplements and Pharmaceutical industries, focusing on solid oral dosage forms including tablets, capsules, and soft gels. His extensive hands-on experience encompasses operating high shear granulators, fluid bed granulators, mills, blenders, tablet presses, and encapsulators, making him a seasoned veteran in manufacturing equipment and techniques.
